Time Weaving: The Art of Healing

Description: Opening Reception and Community Healing Altar - Through a partnership with CORA, this exhibition features art by survivors of domestic violence and sheds light on how healing from trauma is a complex, non-linear journey. Art-making is one of many empowering methods to help integrate the wounds of the past, ground in the present, and give voice to a new, more hopeful and joyous future. Opening reception attendees are encouraged to bring their own object to add to the community altar.

Arts & Lit Fest

Host: Daly City Public Library Associates
Description: This event will showcase local artists and encourage the cultural rise of Daly City’s art community. The Art & Lit Fest will be a day of arts and crafts, performances, workshops, live music, and fun – celebrating the talent in our community while raising funds for Daly City Public Library.

Knitting 101: Four Sessions

Date: 11/2/24 • Time: 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM 
Host: Madrone Arts
Description: We invite you to our knitting series of four Sunday sessions, November 2, 9, 16 and 23.  Students will learn to knit and purl, and how to cast on and cast off— four techniques that will help them design and make items of their own choosing. The instructor will assist in selecting a design and identifying materials that will work best for each student’s project.  Practice materials provided. For more info see the website.

Dia de los Muertos

Hosts: Casa Circulo Cultural, the History Museum and Redwood City Parks & Art Foundation
Description:  Join us for this fun family event where Courthouse Square will be decorated with sugar skulls, marigolds, and lights. Dancers, artists, and musicians will perform. The Museum is open and free which includes children's art activities and the Festival of Altars display.

Description: Tom Rigney is one of the premier American Roots Music fiddle players on the planet. His band – Tom Rigney and Flambeau–specializes in blazing Cajun and Zydeco two-steps, low-down Blues, funky New Orleans grooves, Boogie Woogie piano, and Roots Rock and Roll.  Much of the repertoire is original music written by Rigney, but they mix in some classics from the Cajun/New Orleans songbook.
