Work at Mirada Surf East to dispose of trees and large woody debris left over from fuel reduction work and winter storms is finished. The air curtain burners used for most of the disposal have been moved off site.
Mirada Surf East is open, but visitors should be aware of silt fencing installed to stabilize the area for winter and prevent sediment from spreading to roads and nearby wetlands. The Natural Resource Management staff have visited Mirada Surf East to remove invasive pokeweed that had cropped up after the fuel reduction work. Work will resume in Spring 2025 to grind up the remaining woody debris, which will be spread around the area as mulch.
