  • Intermittent Trail Closures, Weekdays Feb 18–Apr 18

Treatment of oxalis and other invasive weeds at Edgewood Park will occur sometime between Tuesday, February 18 and Friday, April 18. The work is expected to take up to 3 days, as weather and the availability of work crews allows, and will occur on weekdays only. Closures will take place in work areas and will require temporary closures on the following trails:

    • Sylvan Trail
    • Baywood Glen Trail
    • Serpentine Trail between trail markers 19 & 20
    • Old Stage Road
    • The picnic areas south of the main parking lot

Treatment goals include the protection of native habitat from Oxalis pes-caprae and other non-native plants, which spread quickly and outcompete native plants; as well to maintain the native understory in a shaded fuel break designed to protect the park and surrounding communities from wildfire. This work will involve targeted foliar application of the herbicide imazamox or triclopyr directly to foliage of the plants. The trails will reopen once application process, including drying, is complete.
